not necessarily a theory but here’s the thing; I don’t think Jamie was right when she said Dani would forget about her. Because Viola — Viola, who forgot — was so consumed by rage, by that desperate ache for vengeance, that there was nothing she could do but be devoured by it, and lose everything else. Dani, however. Dani was not taken against her will; she chose to make that sacrifice, and she did it for all things, and for love. And love, unlike rage, is not an emotion which makes your mind forget everything else. Love simply heightens things. Makes you realise just how perfectly splendid every day really is, at the heart of things. Jamie said it herself — the lady in the lake was Dani, and Dani was different.

What she didn’t say, but what was surely given by the hand on her shoulder in that jarringly beautiful last scene — Dani would not forget.

Dani would never.
